PGA
Pillars, Goals & Actions
📐 The PGA Hierarchy
Pillars (Identity)
High-level areas of life you want to maintain.
"Fit & Healthy," "Financial Freedom," "Strong Relationships"
Goals (Milestones)
Time-bound targets that support a Pillar.
"Lose 10lbs by March," "Save $5k," "Write a Book"
Actions (Execution)
The actual tasks or habits you do daily.
"Go for a run," "Transfer $100 to savings," "Write 500 words"
🔄 The Three Cycles
The cycles act as filters to ensure data flows up and strategy flows down.
1. Weekly Cycle: The Tactical Reset
Review
- • Look at your Actions from the past week
- • Did you complete the tasks you assigned?
- • Did you stick to your habits?
Assess
Check the status of your active Goals. Example: If your Goal is "Write a Book," and you wrote 0 pages last week, the status is "At Risk."
Plan
- • Populate your Actions list for the upcoming week
- • Block time for specific tasks that move the needle on your active Goals
"Does my calendar for next week reflect my active Goals?"
2. Monthly Cycle: The Strategic Check
Review
Review specific metrics of your Goals. Don't just check off tasks; check results.
"I did the sales calls (Action), but did I hit the revenue target (Goal)?"
Pillar Audit
Look at your list of Pillars. Is any Pillar being neglected?
You crushed your "Business" Pillar but ignored your "Family" Pillar.
Adjustment
- • If a Goal is completed, archive it and set a new one
- • If a Goal is stuck, change the strategy (new Actions) or kill the Goal
"Am I actually making progress, or just being busy? Am I neglecting any major area of my life?"
3. Yearly Cycle: The Vision Reset
Review
Look at the "Big Wins" and "Failures" of the past year.
Redefine Pillars
Does your list of Pillars still represent who you want to be?
You might add "Parenting" if you had a child, or remove "Musician" if that interest has faded.
Set New Goals
Define 3–5 major Goals for the year that support your Pillars.
"Who do I want to be by this time next year?"
📊 How the Data Flows
The "Rollup" Logic
Even in a stripped-down system, the connection is vital.
Top-Down (Strategy)
You never create a "Goal" unless it serves a Pillar. You never put a task on your To-Do list ("Action") unless it serves a Goal.
Bottom-Up (Insight)
Your Weekly Review of Actions tells you if you are hitting your Goals. Your Monthly Review of Goals tells you if you are upholding your Pillars.
✅ Summary Checklist for Setup
To run this system, you only need three lists (digital or analog):
The Pillar List
A static list of 5–8 core life areas.
The Goal Board
A list of currently active projects (limit to 3–5 active at once).
The Action List
Your daily to-do list / weekly planner.
